The Fifig is a 1901 law association that organises the International Island Film Festival of Groix every year, where the island cultures of the world can express themselves through images and music…
"The Island speaks to us all because it speaks of the essential."Louis Brigand
An odyssey from island to island
In 2001, a handful of residents of the island of Groix, passionate about cinema, created the first International Island Film Festival. Their aim: to facilitate encounters and exchanges through a unifying event by giving a voice to islanders from around the world. This somewhat crazy challenge at the start has today become an unmissable annual event.
A place for life, shows and creation
Since then, every year, festival-goers can, once they leave the dark rooms, settle at their leisure and, day or night, discover live performances, attend concerts, enjoy a dish or a drink with friends, or indulge in relaxation and contemplation, between debates or a detour through the exhibition spaces.
A multidisciplinary, varied and demanding programme
Even though the heart of the event remains the international documentary film competition, a large place is given, at each new edition, to the discovery of a "guest island" or a theme, through cinema, but also music, visual artists and other cultural actors. Furthermore, the festival is keen to offer, each year, a space for filmmakers and artists from overseas and the islands of the Ponant.

The founding values
The fishermen of Groix have long carried the radiance of their island beyond the Breton coasts. This maritime and island culture still shapes the character of the men and women who live on the island today and gives this festival its unique colour and atmosphere. It is on these values, based on solidarity, respect, and friendliness, that the festival was built, and we still strive today to uphold, defend, and highlight them.
